Gary Bonney

• Gary is a double Springbok having both swum for South Africa and played water polo for South Africa.

Rhys Hugo

• Rhys started coaching at club level in 2010 at Aquanova Acuatics Club in East London.
• While there he was also the Eastern Cape Schools coach and Buffalo City Aquatics provincial coach and later coached at Vikings Aquatics Club
• He moved to the Western Cape to pursue his teaching career and joined us in 2016
• September 2023: Junior Worlds – World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships 2023 – Netanya, Israel 4th to 9th Sept. Rhys was selected as the SA Coach.

Duncan Bonney

Duncan Bonney is a Cape Town-based swimming coach with over 10 years of experience developing swimmers from junior level through to Senior National competition. He is an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 4 coach and a Swim SA Level 2 certified coach

Over his coaching career, Duncan has worked with age group swimmers, SA Junior Nationals, and Senior National level athletes. He has played a key role in helping several swimmers secure overseas university swimming scholarships, guiding both their athletic development and the recruitment process.

Beyond the pool, Duncan brings a broader understanding of what it takes to run a successful swim programme. He has been involved in club management and administration, giving him a well-rounded perspective that goes beyond just coaching sets and technique.

Bruce Abrahams

• Started off running his own swim school for 7 years in Strand area servicing the Helderberg basin before moving to the Southern suburbs
• Bruce also has a background in Lifesaving both surf and pool (competing and coaching)
• Passionate about helping young swimmers develop the love for swimming and believes in the long term development of a swimmer
