Note from WCA, 21st Jan 2021
Please find attached further draft SSA Calendar for the 2021/2022 season.
It was confirmed today that the WCA Districts of Eden and West Coast Regional galas as per the new dates:
- 23 – 26 March Level 3 at Oudtshoorn
- 28 – 30 March Level 2 at Malmesbury
The districts concerned will host these Regional Galas on the reasonable understanding that a maximum number of 250 persons will be allowed in the venue per session as per level 2 lockdown rules. Presently we are on lockdown level 3 rules with a maximum of 100 persons allowed at the outdoor venue per sessions. At present, Open Water competitions are not allowed.
Your district will confirm their Level 1 competition dates and venues by way of separate mail.
Parents, please understand that NO SPECTATORS are allowed. By congregating outside of the venue and peering over walls or sitting in a crowd with the intention of viewing the gala you are creating a super-spreader crowd environment and thereby putting the continuance of the competition at risk. Parents are able to watch their children if they sign up as an official for the sessions.
As per the attached letter from SSA, dates for National Galas as well as a proposed Invitational Grand Prix in Stellenbosch will be conveyed and confirmed at a later date.
